Filmmaker Tahira Kashyap, who is also the wife of actor Ayushmann Khurrana recently opened up on her battle with cancer, her relationship with Ayushamann and her upcoming project.
In the recent interview with Film Companion by Anupama Chopra,
Tahira spoke about the phase in her relationship with Ayushmann when they hit a rough patch. It was around the time when Ayushmann’s Bollywood career took a turning point with Vicky Donor. When the movie was released, Ayushmann’s intimate scenes with co-actor Yami Gautam didn’t go well with Tahira and insecurities took over their marriage. At that time, she was pregnant as well, and her hormones made it worse for her to deal with everything going on.
“I was this crazy, insecure, pregnant person when Vicky Donor happened and that was the worst phase for the both of us. I think both of us were very immature. I’m sure he didn’t have the maturity to kind of hold my hand and tell me ‘it’s okay’, especially, when I am crazy because of my hormones as I was pregnant at the time. I also didn’t have the maturity to just take it easy and say that this thing will get over.”
She added, “Both of us lacked maturity. Then you also feel like a whale and considering your husband is with beautiful women all around and you don’t come from that background. Even if you have the maturity, the passion and you understand art, you don’t have the maturity to deal with the frills that come along.”
Later Tahira went on the say that both of them have made their peace with it. She says,
“I was very lost and so was he, honestly speaking, but thankfully for us, knowing each other for the past nine-ten years before marriage really helped. I know he’s not a bad guy and he knows that I am not a bad girl, so I think that kind of sustained and we kind of made peace with it.”
Tahira and Ayushmann married in 2008 and have two children together.
On the professional front, Ayushman is shooting for his next movie “Dream Girl” where he would be portraying the character of “Dream Girl”. He is also basking in the success of his two back to back hit movies last year- Andhadhun and Badhai Ho.
Tahira, on the other hand, would start shooting for her first Hindi feature film in March. The focus of the story work be five women coming from different age groups.
