We live in an age where even the thought of long term relationships send us the jitters. The new age human is commitment phobic and insecure. However, amidst such despair, there are couples who don’t just give us hope, but also restore our faith in love! Lets check out some interesting tit bits about some of the most committed B Town couples
Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna
Married since 2001, this couple comes across as a very strong example of being each other’s strength. Now blessed with son Aarav and daughter Nitara, Twinkle has always stood like a rock behind her man and has been the real key to Akshay’s success. However, it was a failure that actually led to the marriage of this couple- during a talk show Akshay is known to have said that years ago, while he was crushing on the Khanna babe, Twinkle had challenged him about the success of her movie Mela. The movie flopped but the romance between the two bloomed and the rest is history.
Akshay on his part has also, always been the doting husband for the actress, model, entrepreneur and now author Twinkle. The latest example of this being his tweet that says :
Akshay Kumar @akshaykumar
Happiness is…seeing ur wife’s book at no.1 within a week 🙂 @mrsfunnybones has arrived! #MrsFunnyBonesBook #proud
Ajay Devgan and Kajol
When the two tied the knot, a lot of heads turned, some said it is an unlikely pair, others said they wont last! Sixteen years into the marriage and the two still turn heads with their glam quotient. He thinks she is a livewire, she thinks he is the sexiest actor Bollywood has. The couple is a real example of standing strong, despite facing innumerable ups and downs in the marriage – Kajol’s miscarriage, her relation with Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay’s alleged affairs with younger actresses. Kajol has always maintained that the secret behind their successful marriage is that the two are best friends.
Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia Dsouza
The cutest love story of Bollywood began with a thappad on the sets of Tujhe Meri Kasam, a 2003 movie that was their debut too. An eight year long courtship after which they finally tied the knot in 2012, they made quite the adorable pair. Though the two describe themselves as unromantic and believe in celebrating small joys of life, we feel they redefine romance with their cuteness. Want proof? See their latest pics with baby Riaan. #totesadorable
Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
Both of them have had their own share of controversies when it came to relationships in the past. Bollywood’s most famous couple, power couple – you name it, they deserve it. She older to t=him but who cares? Te best part about their courtship was the surprise proposal at New York by Abhi during the premier of Guru, where according to Ash, Abhi used a studio prop from the sets and not an actual diamond ring! However the courtship also courted a lot of controversies (read Aishwarya being a Manglik, her chemistry with Hrithik in Dhoom 2, Abhi’s career going downwards etc) but nothing came in the way of the grand wedding that finally took place on April 20, 2007.
Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan
Quite an unlikely match, when rumours of their relationship broke out on the sets of Tashan way back in 2007, a lot of eye brows were raised, especially with the Shahid-Kareena romance still breathing its last. Despite the huge age difference (she is 11 years younger than him) and two grown kids from Saif’s marriage to Amrita Singh, Kareena went ahead and still sands by her Prince charming. However, anyone who married in the Patuadi family was required to convert into Islam but Kareena refused to do the same when the two tied the knot in quite elaborate ceremonies in 2012. Saif stood by her decision. The royal love story is pretty inspirational as the two openly praise each other and also indulge in occasional PDA.
Soha Ali Khan and Kunal Khemu
They couldn’t stand each other initially when they met on the sets of Dhundte Reh Jaoge, let alone a relationship. He thought she was a snob, she thought she could never be friends with him. But then things changed. The couple got into a live in relationship and he proposed her in Paris in a very filmy way. Interestingly, Kunal met Soha’s mum Sharmila Tagore for the first time as her bae on the sets of 99, in a bathrobe! They make a cute pair, where Kunal often does the cooking, for, the Pataudi princess who didn’t even know how to turn the gas on.
Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan
Probably the much loved and best known couple of B-Town, it is a well known fact that King Khan is a doting husband and Gauri is an ideal perfect wife. She has been with him since a time when he was a no body and has seen him rise and fall. But did you know the King of romance made quite and awkward proposal to her way back in 1991. “I was dropping her home one night and that is when I popped the question. However I didn’t wait for an answer and drove off! I am sure she must have said a yes for we got married,” he said during an interview. Years down the line, the couple is an inspiration for all – he with his wit and humour and she with her poise and elegance – complimenting each other perfectly. Oh yes, in case you wonder who’s SRK’s greatest critic – you now have the answer!
Hrithik Roshan and Suzanne Khan
Although this wonderful couple shocked the world and broke our hearts by getting divorced in 2013, we still drool over how perfect they looked together. It was a classic case of opposites attract and love at first sight when he fell in love with her at a traffic signal much before he became the star that he is today. It is said that the traffic signal scene in his first movie Kaho Naa Pyar Hai was inspired by this true real life story. Did you know: Susanne paid for their first date since she was the one earning between the two!
