What to wear for Christmas and New Year’s Eve

So the happiest month is about to end with the last week of the year bringing in so many parties to attend. If you are already bored of your LBD’s and do not wish to play it safe anymore, here are some tips that you could use to create some different looks for the Christmas and New Year’s Eve. This season has been all about bringing the late 60-s and early 70’s back with a lot of wrapping up against the cold. Take a look and do not forget to tell us what you think of them!

The Ankle Length/Maxi dress for the posh woman
Go for those pencil fit, body hugging sharp and sophisticated maxi dresses. Try a turtle neck or Chinese collared style. This season has seen long sleeved maxi dresses make a very suave comeback. This is a good idea keeping in mind the freezing temperatures. Opt for pointy footwear in pencil heels (heels, only if you are confident about carrying them well).Layer yourself up with a furry or wollen shawl, or a smart fit tweed jacket. Keep the jewelry to minimal. Only a chunky neckpiece will jazz up the look if it is a solid colour. If you are opting for prints, go for danglers. Bold red lips are the perfect winter companions for the maxi! Keep the hair smart in a high bun.The Ankle Length/Maxi dress for the posh woman

Wool on wool
Invest in that high neck woolen skater dress. Is it so in this season! A neutral tone with bright prints – the bolder the better – will give you the 60’s kinda look what is oh-so- chic! Team this up with knee length woolen socks and those cutesy Mary Janes. Throw over a leather trench coat if you still feel cold. Give your eyes a bold wing and have a pale lip color but with a fuller pout for a dramatic effect. Add some curls to the hair for some extra drama.Wool on wool

The Army Way
Military prints have done a major comeback this year and how! The olive trench coat over leather pleated skirt with some badass knee length boots is sure to make you look like a true fashionista. Keep the hair wavy, have a bold lip colour and just a dash of mascara to the eye and you are all set! You don’t need any jewelry for this one!The Army Way

Torn denims for the casual chick
If there is one thing that just didn’t go wrong this year, it was the torn denim. Play around your style with a torn boyfriend denim. Wear a crop top and layer it up with a jacket – but make sure those washboard abs are still visible. Add a fedora for some more fun. Add the girly twist with a pointy pencil heeled footwear. Need some jazz? Tie a bling belt around the waist. Keep the make up simple. Braid up the hair and you are all set.Torn denims for the casual chick

Bringing the 70’s back
A leather skirt, may be in red or orange, teamed up with a dark blue or green Aztec print seatshirt/top (you can even tuck in your sweatshirt) can be a killer combination. Big danglers and a chunky belt or a huge handcuff will get the drama. Keep the hair blow dried, back brushed and straight. Keep the lips pale and a hint of bright eye shadow around the upper eye lid. Team up with knee length leather boots.Bringing the 70’s back

Trending this season:

Devil in Detail
This season is all about paying attention to small details. Bling up your look with a chunky finger ring or a palm cuff, or a bold hand cuff. Jazzy hair mesh or a bold and wide belt worn over your jacket will just add that sexy edge to your look.
Colours
This season sees a lot of bright hues in the pallet. Dark green, orange and navy blue have made a major comeback. Pastel shades continue to rule. Aztec prints in bold hues are here to stay.
Hairstyle
The fall brings in a lot of experiments this season. While long waves and short bobs have ruled, hairstyles are more of a personal choice. So consult a well trained hair dresser and find out which style suits you best. A lot of grey and blonde highlights are trending.
Make up
Warm undertones work best this season. Winged eye liners and Smokey eyes have been a runaway trend while a lot of nudes were also seen in the palette towards the beginning of the fall. Apart from crimson red, dark purple is making a comeback for lip colours.
