Ranveer Singh is known to ace each one of his characters to perfection, be it Bajirao in Bajirao Mastani, Khilji in Padmavat. Ranveer is ready to charm the audiences yet again with his portrayal of Divine in Gully Boy.
Recently, Divine, the famous rapper on whom Ranveer’s character is based, spoke about his experience with Ranveer and what he thinks of his performance.
Divine acknowledged Ranveer’s hard work for the movie and said that he can’t take the credit for his smooth delivery as Ranveer got it all on his own. He even admitted that he didn’t train Ranveer for the role.
Talking to Mid-day, Divine said, “I would just hang around in the studio, while he would do his [own] thing. I didn’t train him. He looks so real. Of whatever I have seen so far, it seems that Ranveer has given his all to this role. This is so encouraging!”
Divine also went on to talk about how a star of his caliber will give audiences a glimpse of the underground rap scene. He said, “The rapping scene started in Mumbai, and a film like this one will enlighten those who aren’t aware of the movement. That, in turn, will take the movement forward. I am glad that I got to see it from it’s [inception].”
Back in 2018, Divine also shared how he felt about Ranveer starring in Gully Boy.
, “We were the first guys to spark the whole Hindi hip-hop scene, and there’s a rapper in every gully now, which is all I wanted. Our story will finally be on the big screen, and Ranveer Singh is the right guy to do it. I have hung out with him a couple of times, chilled out. He’s a great and talented guy, the best choice for this film
The movie also stars Alia Bhatt and Kalki Koechlin and is set to release on February 14.
