Tamil Thalivas’s Man With The plan; Manjeet Chhilar

Born in the soul of India and played in its soil, Kabaddi is a contact team sport. The sport is played between two teams of seven players each. The objective of the game is, for a single player on offense, aka the “raider”, to run into the opposing team’s half, of the court. It also includes tagging out as many of their defenders as possible, and return to their own half of the court safely, all without being tackled by the defenders, and in a single breath. Points are earned for each player tagged by the raider, while the opposing team earns a point for stopping the raider. 

Excelling exceptionally in fitness, game and strategy Manjeet Chhillar is an Indian professional kabaddi player, who currently represents Tamil Thalaivas in VIVO Pro Kabaddi, a game format inspired by the very eminent, Indian Premier League aka IPL for cricket. He was a member of the India national Kabaddi team and won an Asian Games gold medal in 2014 for his valour. He also won Asian Indoor Games in 2014 in Incheon. Currently, he’s one of the star players in the Pro Kabaddi League and is leading Tamil Thalaivas with proud. 

The 32-year old was accorded with the Arjuna Award by the government of India for his achievements in sports. Being the member of state team of Haryana, he is on top of Pro Kabaddi’s all-time leader boards for 302 tackle points, 289 successful tackles and 21 high fives.  Initially being a wrestler, He was born in Nizampur in Haryana. Due to an injury to his nose he returned to his village where he started playing Kabaddi. He was the captain of Bengaluru Bulls in the first season of VIVO Pro Kabaddi and played over six seasons. Currently, he’s playing for Tamil Thalaivas becoming a leader in defense for the Thalaivas and scoring more than 59 tackle points as well as 8 raid points.

The team is owned by industrialist Nimmagadda Prasad and and co-owned by the God of cricket Sachin Tendulkar, including actors Allu Arjun, Ram Charan and film producer Allu Aravind. The brand ambassador of the team being Vijay Sethupathi. 

Though the performance of Tamil Thalivas has been a bit disappointing in the past season, this 2109, they’re back with a lion roar. Having an all star player team, Tamil Thalivas is all set to break records this season. With an impeccable team and zealous coach Edachery Bhaskaran, is one of the strongest team this season. 

This year with a rock-solid team having star raiders Rahul Chaudhari, Ran Singh, defenders like Mohit chillar and Shabeer Bapu and robust all-rounders like Manjeet Chhilar and Victor Obiero made the team watch out for at Pro Kabaddi League 2019. 

These players are not only keeping an Indian sport alive but globalizing it through their constant determination and will. We are all set to see the raging Tamil Thalivas this season at Pro Kabaddi League 2019 with their gameplay and extraordinary enthusiasm.
