Noodles yummy or bad for tummy !

Noodles have been one of the quickest and yummiest consumables next to the common household food made. A lot of chain emails have been doing the rounds quite some time stating that they contain wax and that these are toxic.Let’s find out if they are yummy or bad for your tummy !

The Big Question? Are Noodles SAFE for Consumption?

I would like to answer this question by  best examining the origin of noodles. Momofuku Ando of Nissin Foods, Japan was the inventor of instant noodles. Instant noodles are dried or precooked and are often sold with a taste maker made of a blend of spices or seasoning oil. Noodles are usually eaten after being cooked in boiling water, while precooked noodles can be reheated.

Instant noodles are made of the wheat flour, edible starch, edible vegetable oil, salt, wheat gluten and guar gum.

The average nutrient composition of 100g fried noodles will be:

Protein       9 g

Fat               15 g – 19 g

Energy        380 kcal

Moisture      3 – 5 %

No conclusive clinical studies support any such claim that Noodles contain wax or that any of this is harmful to the body.

Brand Maggi made by Nestle (a leading Nutrition, Health and Wellness company). Nestle India Limited is the market leader in the Indian Noodle Market with its Maggi brand of Noodles, which was the pioneer brand launched in 1983 in the packaged food market. The popularity of the brand has made its name Maggie synonymous to Noodles as Xerox is to the photocopier.

Maggi Noodles are tasty and come in a variety of flavours Masala, Chicken, Atta Noodles, etc.  A blessing in disguise for the working women, it is easy to prepare and can serve as a quick family meal. The numerous flavours would mean that you would always have your taste buds tickling!!

So, Finally the answer to the big question. Yes, noodles are safe for consumption and meet the Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSA) requirements.
