Right after setting the stage on fire at the Lakme Fashion Week, Summer Resort 2014, we caught up with her for a quick chat.

Q. Your designs are mostly inspired by the traditional Indian Bride. Tell us more about it.

A. Weddings have always got me very excited. Every girl dreams of her wedding.. The whole journey of dressing up a bride from head to toe is extremely enthralling and challenging at the same time. From getting the right outfit together in terms of silhouette, drape, fit, embroidery, and embellishment to putting together the right jewelry, accessories and footwear, its a beautiful journey for the bride and I love to be a part of this journey along with her. Its a whole transformation of a pretty girl to a sexy and beautiful woman and me adding my bit to it.

Q. What was the highlight for the Lakme Fashion Week,Summer/Resort, 2014?

A. My Collection “Paris Amour” for this Lakme Fashion Week Spring Summer 2014 is an imagery of the beautiful city Paris. Romance and Paris go hand in hand, It is a city bursting with sparks and energy , love and  fashion.

This collection is inspired by the “pop-art Paris map”,the iconic “Eiffel tower” and the twines of colorful spring flowers creating beauty of juxtapose using monochromatic stripes and checks in digital prints.

Q. Almost all the popular names in Bollywood have worn your designs. How do you feel about it?

A. We are very happy with the way the industry has accepted us and we would love to work constantly with all of them.

Q. How will you define a true Archana Kochhar woman?

A. I believe that a true Archana Kochhar woman would be someone who is confident and would stand by what she believes in and wants to live life to the fullest.

Q. Tell us something about the fabrics you use, the colours? What would be the essence of your designs?

A. I have a very global design sensibility which is very traditionally rooted, and I love to make my collections in luscious color blocked palettes. I love fabrics that are soft and drape well. And I also enjoy working with lycra based fabrics for my pret lines.

Q. What is your personal favourite – traditional Indian wear or more casual western wear? What’s your take on fusion of the two?

A My personal favorite at this moment would be Bridal wear with very unusual silhouettes. I think Indian brides have evolved and they enjoy interesting silhouettes with the right amount of embroidery to it unlike the past where embroideries dominated the entire bridal garment.

What do you think?
