5 Must Visit Green Escapes in Mumbai

Today, there seems to be an increasing need for audacious displays of affection. We now seem to have done away with the suggestivity, symbolism and also the bushes. Have you, then, turned out to be one of those people who starve for the old flavour and find themselves with an empty palate? Worry not, love birds and nature freaks! Our city might move fast enough to leave you breathless, but it has never failed to retain a little bit of heart – a little bit of peace and green to escape into, away from the grime of progress! Here are 5 Must Visit Green Escapes in Mumbai

Kamala Nehru Park

Situated at Malabar hills, this is certainly one of the most popular and oldest gardens, very close to the hearts of South Bombay residents. The fountain here rejuvenates kids who aren’t scared of having fun, and flowers that are a sight for sore eyes. The Old Lady’s Shoe has been a part of many lucky childhoods that are re-lived there till date, and if it hasn’t been a part of yours, this boot is meant for walking down the childhood lane all over again, and that’s just what it’ll do!

Pherozeshah Mehta Gardens

More famously known as the Hanging Gardens, this is right opposite Kamala Nehru Park. These gardens are perfectly manicured terrace gardens built over Mumbai’s several water reservoirs. They are tastefully decorated with yards of green and unique animal-shaped hedges. But most importantly, these gardens are gifted with a spectacular view of the beautiful sunset over the horizon of the Arabian Sea.

Amarsons and Tata Gardens

Are you making up your mind about whether to sit back and listen to the gushing of the sea at marine drive or to simply sink into a cool green getaway? Why compromise, when you can easily get the best of both worlds at Amarsons and Tata Park, more famously known as the Scandal Point Garden at Breach Candy? Here you can sit snuggle with the object of your affections into a cozy retreat in the cool shade of trees with the sea right behind craching against the wall of the park or you could go for long refreshing walks while your kids play on the swings and slides. Could one ask for more?

Chhota Kashmir

Tucked away in Aarey Milk Colony, this garden is known to cater to your aesthetic sense in every way. For those who saw Maine Pyaar Kiya, need I say a word more? Formerly known as Lovers Park, this garden is famous for its exotic birds, colourful flowers, lotus ponds and row and paddle boating activities. For family picnics and solitary birdwatchers, this is an experience you do not want to miss!

Sanjay Gandhi National Park

Who hasn’t heard of or been to their very own Borivali National Park? This is where you come for a picnic just once and then you wouldn’t be able to keep away from the fun-filled package this place offers in a day. The toy train, animal safari, garden picnics, waterfalls and the beautiful Kanheri caves just wait for you to come and spend a day relaxing and indulging your senses. To know what I say, you would have to go there.
These are but a piece of the Green Heart of Mumbai. Horniman Circle Gardens, Priyadarshini Park, Sagar Upvan Botanical Garden, Shivaji Park, Wadala 5 Gardens, Joggers Park, Lions/Airplane Garden, Maharashtra Nature Park and Lokhandwala Gardens are some other places you could grab a bench at.
