8 Easy Steps to Pedicure and Manicure at Home

Easy way to save money from parlour is to open up a parlour at home. Bring in your girlfriends or mothers or by yourself, and indulge in self-pamper activities like pedicure and manicure. Here are some easy rules and steps to follow.

Use of remover

Firstly, remove nail polish by using a nail remover. A tip to remember: nail removers damage the cuticles and makes the nail dry and brittle, thus try to apply as less as possible.

Cut & File

Then second step is to cut and file the nails to give them a proper shape which shall stimulate for a healthy nail growth. Try to keep the shape soft cornered square or ovular. Tip: avoid using metal nail filers as they are harsh on the nails. Try using nail filers which are less hard, these can be found in any cosmetic store or drug store.

Soaking

Soak hands and feet in warm water and add some salt. Remember; do not let hand be dipped in water for more than 3 minutes. Also, one can use some mild shampoo from FabIndia, Khadi, Body Shop, or any other of your favourite brand.

Trim Cuticles

Next, very gently push the cuticles back away from nail with cuticle remover but do not break them. Be careful not to pull, lift, tear, rip, force, or cut into the cuticle in any way. Any breakage to the cuticle or surrounding area can damage nail growth or fray the cuticles. Trim only the free edge of your cuticles, avoiding cutting in deep or area next to the nail bed.

Exfoliate

Now, dip your nails for a minute and dry. Moisture cuticle or use olive oil or lemon juice to keep the cuticles hydrated and healthy.Exfoliate hands, arms legs and feet. Rinse well before beginning to use your body shower gel for scrubbing. Use a pumice stone or foot file to remove dead skin and polish your skin. Then rinse the scrub off. Tip: one can also use a natural homemade mask like besan and dahi mixture to remove tan.

Moisturize

Moisturize hands and feet with hand cream or feet cream and massage so cream sets in skin well. To remove the extra moisture use a soft hand towel and dab off.

Go vibrant with colors

Finally, polish your nails. But before polishing nails remove the excess oil or moisturiser. Use plain anti-acetone remover or plain alcohol to remove as using the nail remover with damage the effort of cleaning the nails.

How to paint

Paint your nails starting from middle coat towards the side. Polish them in layers after the coat is dried. Minimum of four coats is standard (base coat, two coats of colour and top coat). Give time for the polish to dry between each coat. Do not use any heat like blow dryer to dry the nails.

Lastly, once the polish is dry massage with a moisturizer or balm. Tip: polishing every alternate day with top coat helps in retaining the manicure and pedicure.
