There are many times in our lives when we’re going to pledge our undying love to people, to that one person we were lucky enough to find early in our lives so we never had to look anywhere else or to many different people; and every time, the love is boundless, whole-hearted and beautiful, no matter what fate it meets later. But when your mom pledged her undying love to you, she knew she would never feel more for anyone or lesser for you ever again. Truth is, you can at some point imagine your life without your love, but at no point can you imagine your life without your mom.
So, if you celebrate your love as much as you do, why not celebrate your mom? Take this mother’s day as a chance to begin and let us help you find ways to let her know how special she is –
1. Date at the memory lane:
Create a jar this mother’s day, a memory jar. Slip in notes of your best memories with your mom and get your family, relatives and her closest friends to contribute. All of you could slip in love letters to her too letting her know how much she means to you. Then, call them over or take her out with them and gather around while she is greeted by all the love in the jar waiting to happen to her.
2. Chill Mom:
Give your mom a break. Send her off to a spa, to a bubble bath or to a day of propping up among cushions and doing her favourite things, while you do all the household chores and cook a nice meal for her. And use Mother’s day to make this into a resolution. Make this the first of many days that you do this for her. You could do it once a week or once a month, but make it a regular feature and see your mom’s face begin to glow with the rest and love you gift her.
3. Family Day:
Your mom generally wants very few things in life, once she’s a mom. Small things give her happiness, like spending time with her family. Gift her that this mother’s day. Spend a day indoors playing board games or dumb charades. Have a movie marathon or do the activities that she likes to do and most importantly, have conversations with her. This could be a regular feature as well.
4. Days of our lives:
Pick a wall or a room in your house and spend the day redecorating it with your mom. Do silly things with the paint and cover it with pictures of your with your mom, your family and her old pictures with her friends. Indulge in fun activities and take pictures while you do. Create new memories and continue to decorate until she has had a really crazy beautiful day and now has a place to go to when she misses you.
5. Walk out that door:
Take a few days off work and surprise her with a getaway. Take her to a place she’s probably always dreamed of going to or make her have a new adventure with you that she will never forget. It could be just the two of you or it could be the whole family and her near and dear ones. If you can’t take a few days off, at least take a day off and make a picnic out of it. You won’t regret it a bit and she will love you for it.
As some wise people have said and reiterated over time, mother’s day should be celebrated every day. Why not take that as a resolution and begin on this mother’s day? Let your mom know that wherever you’re in life today and whatever you’re too busy doing to give her any time, you couldn’t have got there without her.
