When their father’s medicine factory was burnt in a riot, he was forced to leave for Siachen as an Army’s doctor to cater to his family’s needs. Made in Heaven
Made in Heaven portrays today’s India as a potent blend of vintage norms and newness. Where tradition jostles with modern aspirations against the backdrop of Big Fat Indian Weddings. Juxtaposed against the story of the two protagonists, Tara and Karan, it is an amalgamation of the chronicles the lives of Tara and Karan. Two wedding planners in Delhi running a wedding planning agency named Made in Heaven. The series is Amazon Video’s fourth fictional Indian original series. It stars Arjun Mathur as Karan, Sobhita Dhulipala as Tara and Kalki Koechlin as Faiza, including Jim Sarbh, Shashank Arora, Shivani Raghuvanshi and Vikrant Massey in a guest appearance.
Made In Heaven is a 2019 Indian drama web television series that premiered on Amazon Prime Videos and instantly became a web sensation. It was produced by Excel Entertainment and written and created by Zoya Akhtar, Reema Kagti and Alankrita Shrivastava.
Delhi Crime is a Netflix original Indian crime drama series written and directed by Richie Mehta. Starring Shefali Shah, Rasika Dugal, Adil Hussain, and Rajesh Tailang, the series is set in the aftermath of the 2012 Delhi gang rape case that took place in the neighborhood of Munirka, in South Delhi. The series follows the proceedings on the case, where Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Vartika Chaturvedi is tasked to find the culprits, responsible for the assaults and death of the female victim. Based entirely on the real events it portrays the struggle of a female police officer, who not only has the entire case responsibilities on herself but also has to deal with the criminals and a very curious and questioning teen daughter. Not only does it show the dark brutal side of the Indian lifestyle but also shows the rage and power of the Indian women today.
Netflix’s latest Indian original Leila is the dystopian drama that has caught everyone’s attention with its gritty, powerful, and brave political narrative. Starring Huma Qureshi and Rahul Khanna, the show opens with a happy family couple Shalini and Rizwan Chowdhury, and their small daughter Leila, enjoying their time in a swimming pool as they await a visit from a family member.
All seems well in their world until the next moment when they are attacked by someone. Rizwan is killed and his wife, Shalini is captured, what happens to the daughter will be known later in the series. The story then takes a mysterious yet thrilling turn, when Shalini wants to do anything and everything to reunite with her daughter, Leila. Leila is based on Prayaag Akbar’s book of the same name and has been adapted by writer Urmi Juvekar of Oye Lucky Lucky Oye and Shanghai fame. This show has all the ingredients of a perfect dystopian drama that strike a chord with the viewers. The fear makes you uncomfortable, the suspense on edge of your seat, the tragedy makes you miserable while the horror of it all surrounds you with all its intensity, as the possibility of impending doom lurks.
Ladies Room is the raunchiest Yash Raj Films series featuring its wildest leads, Dingo and Khanna. Directed by Ashima Chibber and produced by Ashish Patil, this webs series is exclusively available on YouTube. Starring Saba Azad and Shreya Dhanwanthary, this is a story of two besties and crazy mental adventures they go through in six different loos over the six-episode series. It is a show about modern young ‘girl bros’ struggling to grow up even as they grow old.
These girls are mad, bad and completely unapologetic about it. Traveling from Goa to Mumbai, Dingo & Khanna are living their routine life, smoking up & chilling all day through. Things go south when they are encountered by 35 policemen on the go. A series of fun events roll out in the life of the protagonists. It’s not only a fun easy going comedy series, but it also represents the carefree youth of the present.
Dev DD is a 2017 Hindi web series, conceptualized and produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor, and directed by Ken Ghosh, for video on demand platform ALTBalaji and also available on Jio Cinema. It is like a modernized version of Devdas where feminism, sexism, homophobia and a lot of other things society refuses to speak about are stressed upon in a very entertaining way.
It revolves around Vicky, the type of girl society usually frowns upon because she smokes, drinks admits how much she loves to have sex and a feminist at heart. She is the kind of girl who men and some regressive women usually label as a slut or characterless, basically, she’s judged by everyone. But she is her father’s pride, and he loves his daughter the way she is. Vicky meets Paro aka Parth, whom she falls in love with and gets heartbroken, obviously. This is her tale of emotional trauma, standing firm on her grounds and most of all being who she is unapologetically. It is indeed a must watch for the millennial audience who resonates on being judged for being who you are.
Girl in the city.
Girl in the city, a Bindass original show, is about a young girl who comes to Mumbai to live her dreams and aim at her aspirations. This show is about her journey in the big city and how she copes with a different milieu all alone. Like most girls at her age, the protagonist, Meera is on a strict timeline, that is 3 months to achieve her dreams and fulfill all her aspirations. She explores the city with her beloved scooter, MIA who helps her keep pace with the city. The Sonam Nair-directed web series, Kaafir, is backed by a credible screenplay penned by Bhavani Iyer. Starring Mohit Raina and Dia Mirza, it’s exclusively premiered on Zee 5 on June 15, 2019. The story weaves around a young man Vedant, a lawyer-turned-journalist who accidentally chances upon the footage of a young little girl, named Sehar.
Asked by his boss to do a ‘human-interest’ story with an emotional angle, he decides it’s best to pursue the beat of that child and find out what her story really is. He then discovers that Sehar’s mother, Kainaaz, has been kept in prison for over seven years as she is believed to be a Pakistani militant. However, nothing is as it seems, as later Vedant finds out through a series of interviews and interrogation, he conducts with Kainaaz. This is a spine-chilling story and is a sheer portrayal of the strength and truth of a woman and the undying politics that divide our nations.

Four More Shots Please! is an Indian web television series streaming exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. Directed by Anu Menon, the series follows the story of four unapologetically flawed women, two in their thirties and two in their early twenties, who are struggling with four typical problems of their own. They live, love, make mistakes and discover what really makes them tick through friendship and shots of tequila in millennial Mumbai. Starring Gurbani Judge, Sayani Gupta, Kirti Kulhari and Maanvi Gagroo, this show is spread across two seasons with the second one premiering on June 3, 2019.
